On Feb. 13, Tobeco sponsored its first open mic night of the spring 2014 semester at Michelle’s Café on Main Street.
The evening began at 6 p.m. with performances by Clarion University students. Poetry topics included a variety of subjects including faith, love, family, friends and every day struggles.
Clarion University’s literary arts journal Tobeco was awarded third place recently for the 2013-2014 “Outstanding Literary Arts Journal” award at the Sigma Tau Delta 2014 International Convention.
This past year’s journal was entered into the contest by Tobeco with the help of Sigma Tau Delta and the English Club. The third place prize included $350, which co-vice president Derek Dietz says will be “recycled back into the Tobeco fund to create a better journal this year.”
