Opinion: New York Yankees will win 2018 World Series

In 2017, Major League Baseball’s leader in World Series championships was one game away from adding another.

2018 could be the year that the New York Yankees take home title number 28 for a few reasons.

New York gets a set of fresh eyes, as the team hired Aaron Boone to be the new manager to try and create a powerhouse in the American League East.

Pitching was strong last year, with hurlers like Masahiro Tanaka, Sonny Gray and a veteran CC Sabathia who proved in the postseason that he still has it in the big games.

In addition, the bullpen options for Boone heading into the season threw a lot of heat, making them tough late in games.

With guys like Aroldis Chapman, Dellin Betances, Chad Green and Tommy Kahnle, the Yankees are trying to create a six-inning game.

It is not about the pitching, however, that most fans in the Bronx are excited about.

Most excitement comes from the key acquisition from the Marlins, grabbing 2017 National League Most Valuable Player Giancarlo Stanton.

Stanton smashed 59 home runs on an under-achieving Miami squad, and he did not seem all too thrilled about the future in a Marlins jersey.

The trade to New York makes this team dangerous, mostly because of his new teammate, Aaron Judge.

Stanton and Judge were the only two players in all of baseball to hit 50 or more home runs last year, and in a hitter-friendly ballpark, we can expect a laser show almost every night.

Other teams in the division are having a tough time keeping up, and when taking a deeper look, one can see that New York and the Boston Red Sox have the only legitimate chance of winning that division.

On paper, this team stands out more than any other.

There is still time left in the offseason for other teams to make a move, but as of right now, no offense and bullpen is as deep as the powerhouse in New York.

If you enjoy light-tower power, 100 mph fastballs, strategic starting pitching and dynasty caliber teams, the Yankees are the team to watch.

With club control of Stanton and Judge for much of the near future, this team could make a run like other Yankees teams in the past.

The last time any team went back-to-back to win the World Series was New York, and they are looking to get back to that kind of dominance, starting in 2018.

This young team could be great for years to come.
