On Oct 21, 2016 Lady Gaga once again took the world by storm with the release of her highly antcipated album Joanne.Gaga has once again redifined the music industry and it wil never be the same again.
Gaga has truly outdone herself this time. Not since Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 release of their groundbreaking album Rumors has an entire album been so head to toe amazing. Every track is so well thought out and shows a side of Gaga we haven’t seen before.
Gaga isn’t flying solo on this album either. On the track “Hey Girl” she is accompanied by international superstar Florence Welch. This song perfectly combines Welch’s and Gaga’s unique voice styles.
“Just Another Day” is a jazzy tune that features Brian Newman on saxaphone. This song is a perfect example of the new and diffrent music styles that Gaga has been experimenting with.
The title song of the album, “Joanne”, is a heartfelt ballad in tribute to Gaga’s late aunt. From the first chord, the song is an emotional rollercoaster. The mix of vulnerablilty and beauty makes this one of my favorite tracks on the album.
“John Wayne” is one of the most unique songs of the collection. There is a strong mix of old school country and soft rock. Again, showcasing Gaga’s new music style.
In “Dancin’ in Circles” we get a slight glimpse of Gaga’s old style but in a redefined way. With a very mature subject, the song is high energy and could be classified more as pop.
“Perfect Illusion” was the song that sparked this entire album. Being released nearly a month and a half before the rest of the songs, it really got the hype train rolling. The big shock that came with this track was that it was our first time ever hearing Gaga doing anything drastically diffrent than pop, let alone rock. The song was also used in promotion’s for the sixith season of American Horror Story.
There have been many speculations as to if “Million Reasons” is about Gaga’s ex-fiance Taylor Kinney. Gaga has yet to confirm or deny any rumors but regardless the song is gorgeous and again displays Gaga’s vulnerability.
Obviously this entire album is in honor of Gaga’s late aunt, Joanne. Refrences to her and the times spent with her can be heard throughout the entire album.
With 14 amazing tracks and topping the charts all around the world, it is clear that the fans are taking to Joanne favorably. Gaga is clearly evolving and I know we are all excited to see what the future of her music holds. You can check out her album on iTunes, Spotify and YouTube.
