Clarion, Pa.- Clarion University’s Student Senate held its weekly meeting Monday, April 4 in 246 Gemmell to discuss votes regarding approval of funds for campus clubs and business from the previous meeting.
Vice President Marissa Kealey opened the meeting by inquiring about news and the budget from the previous meeting. Applications for returning and incoming senate members are due on April 12. The senators discussed job opportunities at the university movie theatre; applications are to be turned in to the CSA office.
Members were reminded that the Student Senate will be participating in Relay for Life, taking place April 15 and 16, and will have a table set up at the event. Things are coming along well for the Reinhard awards, and the event will take place April 20 in Gemmell’s Multi-Purpose Room. The Campus Safety, Health and Environmental Concerns committee is making progress in finalizing the dates for the Spring Safety Walk.
Senate members decided to allocate $824.86 to NSSLHA, the National Student Speech-Language and Hearing Association, for its upcoming trip to the Chapter of the Year awards. Clarion’s chapter is up for the award, and the organization is hoping to gain knowledge and experience from this event.
Senators also decided to allocate $1,322.35 to the Society for Advancement of Management for their upcoming conference in Washington D.C. The organization will be competing with other university groups later this year.
