This weekend, the long-awaited follow-up to Zack Snyder’s 2013 hit, “Man of Steel,” zooms into theaters. Since the plans for the film were announced, the epic battle known as “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” has been one of the most highly anticipated superhero movies in years. Here are all of the kick-butt moments and features that fans are most excited for:
Ben Affleck’s Batman – The “Gone Girl” and “Daredevil” actor is trying his hand at Batman, and even though there are some nonbelievers out there, a lot of fans are pumped to see what he can do. He’ll also be reprising the role for the upcoming “Suicide Squad” movie later in 2016.
Henry Cavill Returns – Back in 2013, we saw the actor from Showtime series “The Tudors” play Superman in “Man of Steel,” and he’s back for more action now. This time around, he gets to take on the masked vigilante from “Gotham.”
The Battle – What everyone is probably most excited about is the imminent battle between Batman and Superman. Duh, it’s what the film is named for. The question is: will they be able to set aside their differences to fight the real enemy?
Jesse Eisenberg is Evil – The seemingly awkward and phenomenal actor from “The Social Network” is doing something we’ve never seen him do: play a villain. Better yet, he’s playing the infamous Lex Luther, the perpetual archenemy of Superman. Early reviews say he plays the perfect villain; we will find out.
Wonder Woman! – For the first time in a live-action movie, we get to see the Amazon princess kick butt. She’s being played by Gal Gadot, and just from seeing her briefly in the trailers, we know her character is going to be cool.
Setting up the Justice League – Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman are all in “Batman vs. Superman,” but that’s not all. Cameos by other important characters include Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash. Everything in the movie is setting up the future “Justice League” movies, as well as the rest of the extended DC universe.
“Ultimate Edition” – The movie originally received an R-rating from the MPAA. Approximately 30 minutes were cut to make it PG-13. When the movie is released for home media, an “Ultimate Edition” will be available that will include more violence and darker material that has been cut.
Join the crowd and go see “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” this weekend, and see for yourself why everyone has been eagerly anticipating the ultimate rivalry and impending battle between the gods of DC.
