The Clarion University Chamber Singers are eagerly preparing for a two-week trip to the United Kingdom this July 2 through 15.
As one can imagine, a trip like this can get quite expensive. Luckily, Chambers Director Dr. Stephen Johnson is determined to raise the money and won’t let anything stop them from getting there. According to freshman Chambers singer, Jason Poor, “For every person that’s going, we’ll need essentially $4,000, and so far we have covered a lot of ground in funding that but there is still a good stretch to go.”
The Chamber Singers have a whole slew of fundraisers planned for the not-so distant future. Currently, they are selling half pound bags of coffee for $8 a bag. The flavors available are Hazelnut, Jamaica Me Crazy, Vanilla Nut and Breakfast Blend. If you are interested in purchasing coffee, you can contact any member of the group. All orders are due March 29.
Three-year Chamber Singer Hannah Reed added, “One [fundraiser] coming up pretty soon is the Applebee’s fundraiser, where we are going to distribute flyers, and if you have a flyer that night, a portion of the final price of your meal goes to our cause.” Along with the coffee sale and Dine to Donate with Applebee’s, a homemade fudge sale and community tag days are in the works.
Dr. Johnson has arranged for Chamber Singers to perform all throughout April in hopes of bringing in donations to fund this trip. Anyone who donates will be virtually traveling with the group and a set of donor perks are in the process of being set up. For more information about upcoming fundraisers, or if interested in donating to the group, contact Dr. Johnson at email@example.com. All donations are appreciated.
