Students call Michelle’s Cafe home

Michelle’s Café, located on Main Street in Clarion, is a unique but interesting atmosphere that will satisfy not only your hungry stomach, but also your mood as well.

The décor brings about good vibes with antique furniture, cozy chairs, bronze teapots, chandeliers, paintings of local abstract art and photographs of nature which may be just a few reasons why people like myself can sit there for hours on end.

The various selections from the menu will appease to a person’s appetite and thirst. The food choices vary from breakfast sandwiches to pastries and from soup to gelato, an Italian frozen dessert.

As for drinks, you can get any coffee or tea just about any way a customer would online

The homey atmosphere wouldn’t stand out nearly as much without the energy from the baristas. Polite and down to earth, they will have you smiling even at 8 a.m. on a Monday morning.

Employee Marissa McIntire said, “Michelle’s: the small town coffee shop of your dreams. I’ve only worked here for two weeks and already I know most of the regulars either by name or by their orders.”

Michelle’s is important to the town because a lot of regulars come in and socialize. Customers can sit, drink a caramel iced latte, look around and see how tight knit the community is.

Every time someone walks in they are either waving at someone in the café or approaching the smiling staff. The c
afé attracts a diverse group of people.

Although the café beckons citizens of the community, it also keeps in mind the college students at Clarion University.

McIntire said, “We have people who come in to play live music, we have poetry nights, but most of all we have friendships amongst our customers. I’ve never worked in a place where I truly felt valued by the customers.”

Keeping the college culture in mind, Michelle’s hosts Open Mic Night every Thursday from 7-9 p.m.

The art in Michelle’s is continuously changing, as the café works with Clarion County Arts Council to showcase artists’ work of all ages, and also to provide a cultural experience for Michelle’s customers.
Michelle’s Café is open 7 a.m. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. Saturday and closed Sunday’s and holidays.

Don’t hesitate to grab a yummy sandwich and hot coffee, all while engulfing yourself in the comfy chairs as you enjoy the company of local Clarion community members.
