American Horror Story: Freak Show- Episode 2

The second episode of “American Horror Story: Freak Show” is quite eventful. Like the premiere, this episode ran about 15 minutes more than the usual hour-long show. However, that is a good thing: more killing.

This week we lost a member of the freak show, Meep the Geek. He was the little boy who dressed like a chicken and also ate the heads off of chickens.

Before we can get into that, we have to go back and talk about the events leading up to it.

The freaks show welcomed—well I wouldn’t say welcomed— but allowed two other performers into the freak show. Del, the strongman, and his wife Desiree, the three-breasted woman, sought to join the freak show as their last resort.

If you saw the previous season, “American Horror Story: Coven,” you will recognize Desiree as the voodoo priestess, Marie Laveau (Angela Bassett).

Ethel and Jimmy Darling have a connection to Del the strongman. As it turns out, Del is Jimmy’s father. I don’t think Jimmy has made the connection yet, since he and Del keep butting heads when Del tries to run the freak show himself.

Remember how Jimmy killed the police officer in the season premiere? Jimmy still had his badge. Jimmy planted the badge in Del’s belongings in an attempt to frame him for the killing. But Del actually moved the badge into Meep’s trailer, thus sending the innocent and defenseless bird man to jail where he was beaten and killed by inmates.

Meep isn’t the only one killed in this episode. There are another two victims of Twisty the killer clown. A toy shop owner is found dead by a young man delivering coffee, and that young man ends up dead himself. We see the coffee shop owner’s head as Twisty shows his latest killing to his captives. Twisty also shows them his deformed mouth, which looks like his mask without any teeth.

Twisty also receives a new helper, Dandy, the young man who wanted to buy Bette and Dot in the season premiere. When his mother wanted to cheer up her immature son, she hired Twisty to help. Dandy followed Twisty to his abandoned bus in the woods, where Dandy grabbed Twisty’s victim when she tried to run away.

Emma Roberts has yet to make her premiere this season, but according to recent tweets from her account, she will be debuting in this week’s episode. Tune in Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on FX.
