Golden Eagle women’s tennis comes out on top over Frostburg State

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]This past week the Clarion Golden Eagles Women’s Tennis team took on Frostburg State University.
In doubles competition Clarion Juniors Megan Bettwy and Lauren Zezenski won 8-3.
The pair of Sophomore Jessica Kennelly and Freshman Jessica Dgien fell by the score of 9-8 and 7-1.
Also the duo of sophomore Jazmin Harris and freshman Allison Probst lost their doubles match by the close margin of 9-8 and 8-6.
In singles competition Bettwy won 7-5, 6-2.
Zezenski also recorded a victory with scores of 6-2 and 6-0.

Dgien pulled it out with sets of 6-2, 6-1 in her match.
Probst slid by with scores of 6-2 and 6-0.
Probst’s said “I just had to keep on my toes and play a  solid match.”
The team came out on top prevailing to a 5-4.
Probst stated, “It was definitely a close match. We went in without are number three player due to injury, but we came through.”
The victory gave the team their fifth victory of the season making them 5-11 overall.
Probst added, “In terms of our season as a whole, we played well. There are just some really strong teams in the west part of the state, like IUP, Cal U, and Slippery Rock, and they beat us.This was my first season, and I thought it went well.”
