Clarion women’s golf put together strong performance in weekend invites

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]It’s been a busy three days for the Clarion Golden Eagles Women’s golf team after two invitationals in three days.
The first was in Erie this past weekend at the Mercyhurst Invitational in which the Golden Eagles took home sixth place overall.
Clarion was one of seven colleges competing in the tournament.
The team finished with an overall score of 755, which weas 10 strokes back of Mount Union University (fifth).
The overall winner was Allegheny College that carded in a score of 680 with Seton Hill (688) and Mercyhurst (694) coming in second and third.
Junior Ashley Oliver lead the way for the Golden Eagles with a 10th  place finish, posting an 85 and 89 for a total of 174.
Also chipping in for Clarion were junior Lindsay Finke, senior Amanda Orr, freshman Erin Lynch and sophomore Larissa Roberts.
Finke finished 28th with a 189, Orr was 29th with a 192, Lynch carded a 211 and Roberts rounded out the top performers with a round of 98 on Saturday but did not play Sunday.
Clarion then took to the course again on Monday and took home a first place finish at the Grove City Invite Orr tied for second overall with an 89 that was the best score for the Golden Eagles.
Clarion won by seven strokes total beating out Point Park University (383) and Grove City College (387) which finished in third.
Others contributing to the win were Oliver (93) who tied for fifth overall and also Finke (95) who finished the day in seventh place.
