Angelone finishes tied for 14th, leads Golden Eagle men’s golf in West Chester Cottrell Open

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]The Clarion University men’s golf team traveled to the West Chester Cottrell Invitational hosted by the Golden Rams of West Chester on Sunday and Monday.
The Golden Eagles as a team finished seventh out of nine teams.
Clarion’s best finisher, senior Alex Angelone, finished tied in No. 14 with a total score of 156 shooting a 76 and an 80. Angelone
Freshman Sean Edgar shot 162 (84, 78) and finished in No. 33.
Senior Mike Pope took No. 36 with a score of 164 (81, 83).
Freshman Loren Dukate (83, 86) and junior Adam Harrington (88, 81) both finished with scores of 169.
“We had practice all last week. Our coach encouraged us to try and go out to the local golf course as much as possible, and I think we all felt pretty good about going into the week and playing,” Angelone said.
“As a team positively, we went out there as a team, we all like being together. We have really good chemistry between all the teammates and I feel as if we have the chance to perform very well at a very high level together,” he continued.
“Individually positives ,I think I was very mentally sound going into the tournament, and I was prepared to play good golf,” said Angelone.
“Negatives individually about playing; I need to work one shot at a time, and I got ahead of myself at points,” he said.
“Over the years at Clarion, I’ve learned a lot. I feel like my mind has grown and developed into being a better person, a more mature person, a more dedicated person with a stronger work ethic to both my golf game [as well as] school and education,” he said.
