Golden Eagle women’s tennis defeats Millersville during spring trip

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]The Clarion Golden Eagles women’s tennis team won its first match of the spring during its trip to South Carolina.
The Golden Eagles were victorious against Millersville 5-4.
The team was able to defeat the Marauders 2-1 in the doubles matches.
This gave the team a lead over Millersville.
The single matches came, and both teams were able to break even in the single matches.
Both teams had three overall victories.
Juniors Lauren Zezenski, Megan Bettwy and Madeline Robinson all won their single matches against the Marauders.
The next day though, the Golden Eagles was defeated by Springfield. Even though Zezenski, Bettwy and Robinson all won their single matches against Springfield, the team still fell short.
Springfield won three single matches and two of the three in doubles.
The final score of the matches was 5-4.
Zezenski defeated Rachel London 7-5 and 6-4 in her single match.
Bettwy defeated Sydney Streimer 6-3 twice in her single match as well.
Robinson had a little bit tougher time but still got the victory in three rounds.
She was victorious against Stephanie Foster.
Her rounds went 6-3 Robinson, 2-6 Foster and 10-6 Robinson for the tie breaker.
“Playing inside on rubber courts messes up your game play,” Zezenski said.
Even though Springfield defeated the Golden Eagles twice in doubles play, the women were still able to pull the first victory of the matches out.
Zezenski and  Robinson were able to defeat Rachel London and Stephanie Foster 7-5 and 6-4.
After that, Springfield won the next two matches and won the series 2-1.
Zezenski said “Overall I felt we played pretty well for are first matches being on normal courts.”
