[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]The Clarion University women’s track team saw four qualifiers last weekend at the Shamrock Invitational.
The meet was held at the Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Schools from all three NCAA divisions were in attendance.
Three freshmen led the team in PSAC Championship qualifying.
Freshman Maria Taylor finished 14th in the javelin in her first ever collegiate meet.
Her throw of 36.83 meters was third best in NCAA Division II.
Freshman Courtney Corban was 27th in the 400-meter dash, which was the tenth-best time in D-II.
Rounding out the freshmen qualifiers was Tatiana Cloud.
Cloud was 15th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05:54.
Her time was good for third best in Division II on the day.
Cloud was proud of her accomplishment saying, “I was unbelievably happy that I qualified for PSACs in the 400 hurdles. I was extremely nervous because I had not run the race before. But I was satisfied for now with my achievement in my first race.”
The fourth qualifier for Clarion was junior Anna Pfingstler.
She qualified in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.04, which was tenth best among Division II runners.
Clarion just missed out on a fifth qualifier when sophomore Katie Chambers was 0.34 seconds shy of the qualifying time in the 800-meter run.
Cloud thought the team had overall success at the meet saying “The team had a lot of success at the Shamrock Invite. There is so much potential and everyone is working so hard to become better. The constant support from the team during the races definitely made an impact on the performances. I am so excited to see where we go from here.”
Clarion will host the Cook Forest Half-Marathon and 5K this Saturday before returning to competition at the Dave Labor Invitational held at Slippery Rock on April 4.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_facebook type=”standard”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_tweetmeme type=”horizontal”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
