Golden Eagle track and field takes part in indoor track championships

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]This past weekend the Clarion Golden Eagle track and field team participated in the PSAC indoor Track & Field Championships at Bucknell University.
On the first day, the distance medley relay team of seniors Megan Toddy and Ciara Shorts along with  juniors Anna Pfingstler, and  Katie Chambers placed fifth with a time of 12:28.109.
Toddy added points to the team by recording a sixth place finish in the 5000 meter run by the time of 18.13.619.
Sophomore Kristen Belko scored 2,915 points in the Pentathlon finishing seventh in the event.
Senior Jessica Vitous placed 12th in the 60 meter hurdles by the time of 9.28.
Head Coach  D.J. Bevevino stated “Scoring in three events on Saturday was the highlight.”
On the second day, Shorts finished 11th in the one mile run (5:15.52).
Chambers finished 12th in the 800 meter with the time of 2:23.894.
The 4X400 relay team of Sophomore Danielle Konopski, freshmen Tatiana Cloud and Courtney Corban and Pfingstler placed 12th with the time of 4.02.585 which was just a few tenths off the school record.
Freshman Jessica Shomo finished 10th  in the long jump (5.19m) and Vitous finished 13th (5.15m).
Senior Sarah Loughner placed 10th in the high jump (1.54m) and Belko 13th (1.54m).
Bevevino said “Pleased without performances at the meet, many season best and personal best.” Bevevino continued, “We improved standing from seeding going in.” Bevivino’s thought on the season overall “Tough season, difficult to adequately prepare the way we would like which makes it a challenge.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_facebook type=”standard”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_tweetmeme type=”horizontal”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
