Wrestling sets up for showcase matchup against Oklahoma State

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]The Clarion Golden Eagles wrestlers are getting ready for the toughest matchup of the season and the showdown of their lives.
The Oklahoma State Cowboys come into Tippin Gymnasium with a 7-4 overall record and a four game winning streak.
The Cowboys have beaten top teams [Wyoming, West Virginia, Iowa State, and Missouri] are just some of the na this year to to earn the No. 7 ranking.
They come to Tippin Gymnasium in preparation for their matchup against the Penn State Nittany Lions in State College on Sunday.
Freshman Evan Daley said, “I think it’s going to be an all out battle. They’re going to be tough, they’re coming in to knock our heads off, and we should be prepared to do the same thing to them.”
Some consider the  Golden Eagles come in as underdogs in this match.

Projected to take the mat for Clarion are freshmen Hunter Jones (125 lbs.), Justin Arthur (149 lbs.), Austin Matthews (157 lbs.), Michael Pavasko (165 lbs.), Dustin Conti (184 lbs.) and Evan Daley (285 lbs.).
Juniors Sam Sherlock (133 lbs.) and Ryan Darch (174 lbs.) and seniors Tyler Bedelyone (141 lbs.) and Brandon Contreras (197 lbs.).
Projected to take the mat against the Eagles for Oklahoma State will be Eddie Kilmara (125 lbs.),  Jon Morrison (133 lbs.), Anthony Collica (141 lbs.), Josh Kindig (149 lbs.), Alex Dieringer (157 lbs.), Tyler Caldwell (165 lbs.), Chris Perry (174 lbs.), Nolan Boyd (184 lbs.), Jordan Rogers (197 lbs.), and Austin Marsden (285 lbs.)
“Its going to be pretty big, Oklahoma State is really big actually, It’ll be really exciting, hopefully I’ll get the opportunity to do that [in the future],” said redshirt freshman Seth Carr. Just watching the team supporting them, hop[ing] they do the best. I can’t wait to watch the Oklahoma State match and all these upcoming matches that are going to be big,” Daley said.
The Eagles will be prepping harder this week than they have before as Evan Daley implemented.
“[I’m going to] train harder than ever before. Make sure I’m mentally ready and physically prepared. [This matchup] is going to mean a lot as were approaching the postseason. We’re all getting ready for the national tournament. With a win over these guys for everyone its going to be huge mentally, to get us ready for the postseason, and let us know that we’re at the level that we want to be at.” Daley said.
The Golden Eagle wrestlers aren’t the only ones getting ready for the big event.
The athletic department is also are expecting a big crowd to show up to Tippin for Saturdays bouts.
The athletic department is asking for everyone that shows up to Tippin to wear blue as apart of the “blue out”.
The first 500 Clarion University students to show at the door will also receive a rally towel to support the Golden Eagles.
