Fashion show to feature modern-day styles from Pennsylvania cities, D.C.

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]The University Activities Board held a rehearsal on Monday for its upcoming fashion show on April 4 at 8 p.m. in the Gemmell Multi-Purpose Room.
Jaelaun Moses, a senior communication major, is this year’s show director. Moses is the UAB Multicultural Committee chair head and worked as a coach in last year’s fashion showfashion show .
Models will consist of 20-25 Clarion students, men and women alike, who auditioned last semester. Fashions will include designs purchased from cities around the area and more distant regions as well.
“Some [designs] are from Pittsburgh, some are from Philadelphia, [and the] D.C. area,” Moses said.
Clothing will contain pieces brought by designers, such as Pittsburgh designer Sofiya Mozley.
The fashion show is open to both students and the public. Past shows have attracted students from neighboring universities.
Moses will mix up the show with skits, posing and a dance. A disc jockey will provide background and dance music. “[I hope] that it [the show] goes smoothly. Every year, we get a good turnout, so I can only hope to have another good turnout,” Moses said.
Briana Hill, a freshman communication major and model in the show, is a newcomer this year.
“I hope that we surprise people with what we’re about to do, and that with the hard work…and effort that we put in that a great show comes out of it…I know a lot of people put a lot of time into this already, so by the time it’s time to perform, I hope it’s excellent,” Hill said.
Sophomore communication major Ari Fulcher modelled in last year’s fashion show and will be participating in the upcoming one as well. “I hope everyone does great this year, we have a big turnout and everyone enjoys themselves,” Fulcher said.
The fashion show has a different theme every year in terms of clothing style. This year’s theme is taking a hint from the runway. “This year is more high fashion. It’s like modern-day high fashion,” Fulcher said. However, those curious about details will have to wait until April.
“Come to the show and find out. That’s the big surprise,” Fulcher said.
